Continuity and trust

Clients and employees form the basis of BDO's revenue curve, which has been trending upwards for more than ten years. This is no mean achievement for BDO, and something the firm has always worked hard to achieve.

Trust is more than just a catchphrase at BDO. The firm strives to forge a long-term business relationship with every one of its clients, built on trust. As a result, BDO’s more than 21,000 clients are loyal, remaining with the firm for an average of about 20 years. BDO’s longest client relationship dates back 78 years.

The loyalty of clients is intrinsically linked to close, personalised relationship management. To ensure partners are always close to clients, BDO has a network of 33 offices across Switzerland, from Basel to Lugano and from Geneva to Chur. This means BDO has the densest network of offices in the industry, covering all three language regions. One additional central factor in BDO's success is the guarantee of a high degree of continuity in client advisory relationships. BDO achieves this by having a markedly lower fluctuation rate than its competitors. With a long-term fluctuation rate below 15 percent, fluctuation at BDO is up to 50 percent less than that of its largest competitors.

Continuous adjustment of the range of services

BDO continuously adjusts its range of services to changing demands. For example, since April 2016 BDO has had a specialist risk management and investment compliance team in its Financial Services service division. Cross-border employee secondments are not only on the agenda of major international groups, but are also gaining in importance at small-and-medium-sized companies. This prompted BDO to extend further its Global Mobility services. Its offering encompasses discipline-specific services, such as employment law, social insurance, taxes or payroll services for all periods from the time of clarifying and planning a secondment to the employee's return to Switzerland.

Globally networked

Proximity, and personalised support shaped by continuity, are also appreciated by BDO's international clients. BDO is present in 158 countries with 1,401 offices and more than 67,700 employees. Growth in the 2016 financial year was an impressive 8 percent, with total revenue of USD 7.6 billion. This enabled BDO to further consolidate its position as the leading global network for medium-sized companies.
