Swiss GAAP FER

The revised Swiss GAAP FER accounting standards, which is into force since the 1st January 2007, focus on the financial reporting of small and medium-sized organisations and company groups with a national presence. The standards are also employed by non-profit organisations and em-ployee pension funds. The Swiss GAAP FER system provides these organisations with an appropriate and meaningful accounting framework with which to ensure an accurate portrait of their asset base, financial situation and earnings (true and fair view). The system also encourages communication with investors, banks and other interested parties while enhancing the comparability of annual accounts both between organisations and over time.

Swiss GAAP FER is often the best solution to ensure meaningful annual financial statements for medium and small-sized companies. International Financial Accounting Standards (IFRS), the only alternative, are far more complicated and time-consuming to implement and generally provide a picture which is only slightly more representative.

At BDO Visura, we have encouraged the use of Swiss GAAP FER by our clients for many years. Our auditors have many years of experience in:

  • Providing support for companies switching to Swiss GAAP FER for the first time
  • Answering questions related to the interpretation of the standards
  • Auditing annual accounts (individual accounts) and group financial statements in accordance with Swiss GAAP FER

In addition, our company representatives have been actively involved in the FER organisation for many years.
